by the way......saw napoleon dynamite tonight. rocked my face off.

interesting day today. i think i need to try and get more sleep. that would probly help with the whole nearly-falling-asleep-five-times-during-class thing. lol and on that note....i believe it is time for bed. laters!!

this has been a week of firsts......
  • this was our first week of tuesday night discipleship, and i co-lead a group of sixth-grade girls with my friend rachel.....i'm so excited and i look forward to this year!!!! i know we'll have a lot of fun, and i also can't wait to see what i'll learn teaching this group.
  • it was also my first week of wednesday night bible study as a junior. it was kind of weird walking into mrs. gelnett's house and having the senior girls there with us. but it's also really cool and i think i'm going to learn a lot from this bible study.
  • for the first time we got to sort of apply what we were learning in physics to everyday life....so now i have a better visual of all the problems we're working on. i'm really liking physics.
  • today was the first day learning the present tense of the subjunctive mood in french 3. it's going to be fun b/c it's challenging.....but i also know already that i am gonna confuse it with present indicative most of the time.

anywho......life has been kind of stressful, but God has given me joy and comfort and i'm thankful for that.

houston was wonderful. almost every day since we got home, i keep thinking about how much i miss it. we did so much there that it felt like much more than one week. we went to a lot of different cultural restaurants, and i've decided that cuban food was by far my favorite. all of the food was good....but i really liked the cuban food. anywho......we went to different ministry sites every day, and they were all so much fun!! we went to a place called Sheltering Arms, which is a day center for memory loss patients--mostly alzheimers. all of the people that i met there were wonderful, and a few in particular taught me a lesson about joy. actually, joy was one of the main things i saw and learned about everywhere on the trip. we also went to a men's rehab center called open door and some children's centers. i think my favorite day was when we went to a place called the Read commission, where we tutored people twice our age and older on math to prepare them for a test to get their G.E.D. I got to tutor a woman named judy who was actually quite intelligent--she just didn't have the experience in math that we get. all of the people that i met were great, and i'm kind of sad that we won't be going back next year. anywho, i guess that's it for now!!! laters!!!!
